Our Story

Canvas-reef was founded with a singular vision: to demystify the world of television production and share the extraordinary craft that goes into creating the programmes Australians watch every day. What began as occasional studio tours has grown into a comprehensive education and production services company.

Our founders, veteran broadcast professionals with decades of combined experience across major Australian networks, recognised that few people truly understand the complexity and artistry involved in television production. They set out to change that by opening the doors to working studios and creating immersive educational experiences.

Our Mission

We believe that understanding how television is made enriches the viewing experience and inspires the next generation of media professionals. Our mission is to provide accessible, engaging, and professionally-led experiences that reveal the artistry, technology, and teamwork behind every broadcast.

Whether we're conducting a tour for school students, running a masterclass for aspiring filmmakers, or producing corporate content for business clients, we bring the same commitment to excellence and passion for the craft that defines the best in Australian broadcasting.

What Sets Us Apart

Unlike simulated studio experiences or museum exhibits, Canvas-reef provides access to genuine working production facilities. Our tours and workshops take place in spaces where real programmes are created, using the same equipment employed by professional broadcasters.

Our team consists entirely of working industry professionals. Our guides and instructors aren't simply trained presenters—they are camera operators, directors, editors, and engineers who bring their daily professional experience directly into every session.

Our Values

  • Authenticity in every experience we deliver
  • Excellence in technical and creative standards
  • Accessibility for learners at all levels
  • Innovation in production techniques and education
  • Collaboration between professionals and participants
